Why have I chosen the King Edward VI?

I have chosen the King Edward VI because when he was born his mum died and I’m very sorry.

He was a son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour.

I'm very fascinate to know how a child feels when he becomes king because it's a big responsibility.

Tudor’s places

The Tudor's time was a period of huge and beautiful buildings with elaborate palaces!!!!

Although Henry VII (the first monarch ) had a reputation for meanness, he was a great patron of architecture. He built Royal palaces (Richmond) and some religious buildings.

Beetwen 1536-1540 Henry closed the Catholic Monasteries in England and used the money from them for his grandest project Nonsuch Palace. It has been rival of some splendid French Chateau.

Elisabeth built during her reign too. Some of tipical houses were built not only for the owners but also as places to receive the royal court.

His short life

“Grace of God”:
The letter from Jane Seymour announcing the birth of the future King Edward VI.

Edward VI was only nine when his father, Henry VIII died in 1547.

Henry VIII in his will has written that Mary I and Elizabeth I were not entitled but were admitted to succession.

In that moment the legitimate heir was Edward VI. For the first two years of his short reign Edward VI threw the kingdom into turmoil. All the nobles wanted to enter in the regency council. Edward was in the hands of his uncle, the Duke of Somerset, known as the Lord Protector. He had a project to married Edward with a Scottish Princess Mary Steward, to merge England and Scotland. Edward had been brought up in Protestant faith and Somerset was also a staunch Protestant.

The young king found himself in the midst of religious wars between Protestant and Catholic.

The daily life

The banquets

The banquet would have been a crowded and noisy affair. The highest members of society may have also brought tasters along to see if the food was poisoned. Servants would have been running around bringing wine, food, and fresh trenchers. The favorite meat was been sheep. In Tudor’s time the sheep was used for providing wool, milk and meat.

The entertainment was music and acrobats.
